Solvenon® PM is a clear, hygroscopic liquid with medium volatility and a mild alcoholic odor. It is miscible with water and common organic solvents, exhibiting excellent solvent power for various raw materials used in coatings, such as resins and binders. This compound possesses typical properties of ether and alcohol groups, allowing it to undergo reactions like esterification, etherification, oxidation, and the formation of alcoholates. Solvenon® PM finds applications as a solvent, flow promoter, and coalescent aid agent in coatings and printing inks. It improves the flow and leveling of baking finish systems and significantly enhances film formation and leveling in electrodeposition paints when added in small quantities. Additionally, it can be used in cleaning agents, road marking paints, leather finishes, and as a starting material for the production of esters and Methoxypropyl Acetate.
